Right out of college, I was hired at Rocketmade, LLC. (an app development company based in Southern Utah) as a UI/UX designer. At the time I had no clue what that actually meant, but I learned so much and found a love for UI/UX design. While I was there, I was also in charge of doing all the graphic design work so when they needed a new t-shirt, I jumped at the chance to design one. One thing that was really big with the founders of Rocketmade was the lifestyle and culture that they had created there so I wanted to capture that in these icons. I designed this as a one-color screen print and we got more than 100 printed on more than 10 different t-shirt colors. Here are a couple of them printed. This was my first time seeing a t-shirt from concept to print and I love how they turned out.

Plant Me // Seed Packets
This was one of my favorite projects. It was a time for me to be in complete creative control and make something fun and quirky. I started with the carrot packet just because it is so geometric in nature and lent itself easily to be turned into packaging and then thought about how I could create other vegetables as well. I love the way these turned out and it would be amazing to actually see something like this produced one day.
Now What Do I Do?
This was my senior project and I had so much fun coming up with all of the sage advice I would give someone in their first year of college and living on their own for the first time. The part that was the most fun though was making and stylizing the illustrations. My personal favorite is “You cannot survive on Poptarts alone,” which was discovered after a finals week was fueled only by Poptarts (page not not pictured). I’m proud to say I am 3 years clean from that fateful week and haven’t had a Poptart since.

Don’t Be That Roommate
These posters were from an assignment to make a PSA about something. At the time, I had some roommates that weren’t the cleanest. These posters illustrate some of the different ways roommates can have some cleanliness problems. I went into so much detail in these and a lot of it got lost when it was in its printed size. Someday I might blow these up just to see all those little details, like the banana peel or the caps on the pens.
How to be a Hipster
In my senior portfolio class, we had an assignment to write out instructions to do something. Most people chose things like ‘how to make a paper airplane’ or ‘how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich’. I was uninspired by the usual topics and decided to do something a little more unique—a tongue-in-cheek guide on ‘how to be a hipster’. After everyone in class loved it, I decided to make it into an accordion fold pamphlet and get it printed.
Chef Katie’s Creations
My sister Katie is an amazing chef. I designed a logo for her and surprised her with some labels for her products. I designed it in a way that the label can be printed in any color to go with an event theme or just to give a variety to the products.
Dream
My senior year of college, I was asked by a professor to design a piece to display in the Dixie State University Student Art Gallery grand opening. I was honored to say the least. I’m super proud of how this poster turned out. I was inspired by the quote by Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.” I love this quote and decided to go with a design reflective of the movie Up. I layered different colored balloons to create a dynamic effect.
